Gift Guide Day 1: A Gift that Gives Back (+Giveaway!)

GG 2015-1

Today’s gift focuses on what’s truly important this time of year: spreading love and care.  And, when you gift someone you love (or yourself) with this gorgeous Palmwood Diamond Pendant from This Counts, 25% of the proceeds are donated to Make A Wish Canada to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.  Made of palm wood and resin diamond on a metal chain, this necklace proves even more beautiful when you know that you can change and enrich lives by wearing it.

I’ve blogged about This Counts previously, and how a portion of the sale of every single item on their site goes to a charity supported by the retailer.  I also love that there’s no guessing game when you’re shopping: the price you see is the price you pay (including tax and shipping).  This necklace is just one of the many fun and unique gift ideas on the site.  Check out my previous post (linked above) for some other great gift ideas from This Counts!

This Counts has generously offered to host a giveaway to help celebrate day 1 of the 2015 Gift Guide on WhatDidSheFind.  To enter to win your very own Palmwood Diamond Pendant, simply follow the link below and use the Rafflecopter tool.  This giveaway is open to Canadian entrants only, and will close on Wednesday, December 16th at 11:59pm EST.  Good luck and happy shopping!

The Look for Less: Ray-Ban Inspired Pendant

The Look for Less

I couldn’t help but fall in love with the adorable Ran-Ban inspired necklace Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting wore for her Cosmopolitan cover shoot (May 2014 issue).  The subtext stated that the necklace was by “Jason of Beverly Hills”, but listed no price (most of us know that’s typically code for “expensive”).  You can check out the version Kaley is wearing here; no price is listed on their website either, but the white-diamond detailing leads me to believe it’s probably more than I’d hope (or could afford) to spend.

Fast forward to a quaint street festival I visited during my recent vacation to Nova Scotia.  My eyes scanned over a sea of cute pendants: infinity symbols, dolphins, hearts…aviator sunglasses!! I don’t think I could get them in my hands fast enough.  While they are a little different from Kaley’s, the concept is much the same.  Like Kaley’s version, the pendant is on a silver ball-chain, and the back of the sunglasses have “arms”, making the pendant 3-D.  The main differences are that mine are sans diamonds (or even cubic zirconia), and are in the style of aviators instead of wayfarers (which I love since I prefer, and actually wear, aviators anyway).  My cute new pendant cost me just $15.00 (doesn’t get more budget-friendly than that!).  While the shop I purchased them from doesn’t have a website, you can find a large selection of reasonably priced sunglass pendants on Etsy here!
