WhatDidSheFind Gift Guide: Day Three

Holiday Guift Guide Day 3

Love is pretty much synonymous with the holiday season, and what better time to “give someone your heart”?  What I love about this heart pendant however, is that it’s not your typical…it’s anatomical!  A sterling silver (3/4″) pendant on a 16″ box chain, this necklace is perfect for the person in your life who loves the unique and different (even if that is yourself).  Even better? You’ll be showing the love for local talent: this beauty was handcrafted in Toronto, Ontario.

You can purchase this “”Zippan-Anatomical Heart” necklace from Cards and Presents (I’ve mentioned them before in this post), for only $50.00.  And, if you order before November 30th, (using the coupon code: CANSHIP), you’ll also receive free shipping Canada-wide.  Be sure to check out some of their other fun products while you’re there (I’m in love with pretty much everything), as well as their own holiday gift guide.

July/August Favourites!

July August Favourites

The beginning of September means that Summer is slowly coming to an end (but hey, all the more reason to enjoy every minute of the remaining 20 days of the season!).  Here are some of my fashion, beauty, and entertainment favourites for the past 2 months.

1. Jockey Skimmies Short Length Slipshort

I’d been wanting to try these shorts for a while, and it wasn’t until a recent embarrassing (and slightly traumatizing) experience that I finally got my hands on them.  To explain, let me use a simple equation: a windy day + a lightweight dress + bending over to adjust your shoe before getting in the car = showing your neighbours more than they want to see.  Anyways, these shorts are the answer to many of my fashion-prayers: 1. they can be worn as an extra layer under sheer dresses, 2. the smooth fabric doesn’t catch on clothing and can be worn under pants, skirts, and dresses, 3.  they provide a smoothing effect without cutting off circulation or hindering your breathing, and 4. they provide an extra layer of security under short (or lightweight) dresses.  They come in a variety of colours and 2 lengths (I purchased mine in the short length in both nude and black).  Check out Jockey’s website here

2. The Original Beauty Blender

It took me quite some time to hop on the Beauty Blender train, but I’m sure glad I did! I think some people, such as myself, are little hesitant due to the $26.00 price tag, but the results of using this teardrop shaped sponge are definitely worth every penny.  While you can use this sponge with a variety of products (blushes, powders, and etcetera), my favourite use for it is with liquid foundation. Basically, you dampen the sponge (it nearly doubles in size), squeeze all water out of it, and then apply your foundation in a dabbing motion: the result is a finish similar to airbrush makeup.  You can check out the video on Sephora’s website to learn more.

3. Pink by Victoria’s Secret Varsity Crew

This long-sleeve crew sweatshirt is one of the comfiest items of clothing I own (I purchased mine in royal blue at the semi-annual sale).  It’s more lightweight than a hoodie, and has a longer length that can be paired with leggings.  Pink is constantly coming out with new styles and colours, so be sure to check in store as well as online!

4. Buxom Full Bodied Lipstick in “Mistress”

I originally received this lipstick in a sample-size during a Sephora promotion.  It has a “good for your lips” formulation that includes shea butter and coconut oil, and the colour is a rich, pigmented, beautiful pink suitable for everyday wear.  While the sample-size was generous and is still kicking, I fully intend on purchasing the full-size in the near future!

5. Isis Jewels “The Bar and Chain” Bracelet

I’ve been loving the bar bracelet and necklace trend; there’s just something so simple and elegant about it.  The greatest challenge I face however, is finding a bracelet that fits my super-small wrists.  Luckily, when I spotted this beauty (on sale for 50% off) at the Canadian National Exhibition, the sales associate was kind enough to adjust the length for me on the spot.  Made of sterling silver coated with 14K white gold, and accented with Austrian crystals, it is dainty enough to wear on its own, or will pair perfectly with a watch or other bracelets. Check out other pretty things from Isis Jewels here.

6. Dior Addict Fluid Stick in “Kiss Me”

Sadly, I can’t take credit for discovering this gorgeous lipstick/lipgloss hybrid.  In fact, when I was having my makeup done at Sephora and the artist chose it, I was secretly pouting inside because it seemed so…boring.  However, I was pleasantly surprised once she put it on.  It is one of the prettiest nudey-pinks I’ve ever seen!  I was also impressed by its long-wear: I only need to touch up my lips once the whole night (you can see a picture of it on, here).  Other colours I intend on trying? Trompre L’Oeil and Wonderland.

7. Nashville (on Netflix)

While most of my favourites are usually fashion and beauty related, this television series was a must-have for July and August.  I started watching it last month during my road trip to Nova Scotia, and have been hooked ever since.  Season 1 and 2 are available on Netflix, and if you fall in love with the music like I did, the soundtracks can be purchased on iTunes!

What’s in a name? Affordable Personalized Name Nacklaces

Name Necklace

A few years back, after seeing Carrie’s customized name necklace (and my other  celebrities alike), I was determined to get one for myself.  However, after researching and seeing that most were between $200.00-$300.00, I was thrilled to find www.mynamenecklace.com (there’s now even a www.mynamenecklacecanada.com website too).  This company offers great quality, beautiful pieces for a fraction of the cost of other vendors.  Better yet? They even have free shipping, and often have promo codes to save 10% to 20% off!Carrie

I purchased the “Carrie Style Name Necklace” in sterling silver for less than $40.00.  I loved it so much that I went back and purchased another in rose gold.  My only piece of advice would be that you should be sure to take it off when showering/bathing and avoid spraying it with perfume, as it can weaken the metal between the letters, causing it to slightly bend or break.  A solution to this, if you prefer leaving your jewelry on 24-7, is that they offer “double strength” versions of their necklaces (slightly more expensive).  If you treat these necklaces well, they’ll last forever (I’m proof!).

I’ve also purchased the “Sterling Silver Monogramed Necklace” (under $50.00).  A tip when ordering a 3 letter monogramed item: your last initial always goes in the middle, followed by your first initial on the left, and your middle initial on the right.  (Example: if your name was Sarah Margaret Jones, your monogram would be sJm.)

Be sure to check out their website as they offer gorgeous rings, key chains, earrings, and more in a variety of colours, materials, and styles! (How awesome are these Acrylic Monogram Earrings, and Leather Wrap Bracelet?!)
